Welcome to Levinejudaica.com
.
Five generations ago, Hirsch Landy founded our company in Vilkemeer, Lithuania working as a sofer (religious scribe).
In 1905 he immigrated to New York's Lower East Side where his son-in-law, Joseph Levine, expanded the business to become the largest manufacturer of synagogue vestments. His three sons, Harold, Seymour and Melvin, further developed the firm into a complete department store of Jewish Books and Judaica with the world's largest selection.
After the Levine brothers retired and Seymour, made aliyah , J. Levine Books and Judaica under the leadership of Danny Levine, moved to the heart of midtown Manhattan where we have earned the reputation as the Ultimate Judaica Store. Whether it's in The New York Times, AP articles, Wall Street Journal, CNN, YouTube, Facebook, Amazon or Twitter you're likely to have heard of us.
As one of the pioneers of Judaica websites and in conjunction with our Manhattan flagship store, we are constantly expanding our online store making it a must for all who have a serious interest in Jewish books and Judaica.
